Oil painting inspired by the Russian 19th century painter Ivan Shishkin. Shishkin was a wonderful painter of the forests in Russia and I often carry his work around in my head. The layout of the trees in this work is actually based on a conifer plantation north of Otley, West Yorkshire, whilst the idea of the stream is from one of Shishkin's works. An amalgamation of the past and the present.
